Public Transport

Transportation from the Airport

From LaGuardia International Airport (LGA)

There are numerous public transportation options both to and from LaGuardia. Here are some tips on your options.

NYC Airporter

Departure roughly every 30 minutes – Port Authority Bus Terminal, Grand Central Station and Penn Station. Fare is $13. Purchase tickets online at www.NYCAirporter.com. For more information, call (718) 777-5111.

Public Transit Services

New York City buses provide service between LaGuardia and Manhattan and Queens with connections to New York City subways for destinations beyond.

Connecting LaGuardia and upper Manhattan, the M60 bus travels from all LaGuardia terminals via Astoria Blvd. in Queens to West 106 Street and Broadway in Manhattan. The M60 now provides Select Bus Service with limited stops and faster service. Customers pay before boarding the bus and can use any door. To learn more, visit the MTA’s website. Key connections include the N and Q subway trains at Hoyt Avenue/31st Street; the 4, 5, and 6 subway trains at Lexington Avenue; and the Metro-North Railroad at Park Avenue.

For service between LaGuardia and western Queens or Midtown Manhattan, take the Q70 Limited or Q47 buses. Connections to the E, F, M, R and 7 trains on the New York City subway are available at Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street. For service to Astoria, Queens, use the M60 bus and transfer to the N or Q subway trains at Hoyt Avenue/31st Street.

For service between LaGuardia and central Queens, use the Q72 (Corona and Rego Park) and Q48 (Flushing) bus routes.

The bus fare is $2.75 (MetroCard or exact change required), except $3.00 whenever a single-ride ticket is purchased. MetroCard vending machines are available at most terminals within the airport. For passengers using the MetroCard, free transfers are available between buses and subways.

From John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)

There are numerous public transportation options both to and from JFK. Here are some tips on your many options.

AirTrain JFK Transit Connections

Most trips to and from JFK via ground transportation require the use of the AirTrain system. For more information on using AirTrain, visit the AirTrain JFK section of this site.

Airtrain reaches numerous connecting public transit services at two off-airport locations, Jamaica Station and Howard Beach Station.

Use Airtrain’s Jamaica Station for the following transit connections:

  • Commuter Trains: Long Island Rail Road
  • NYC Subways (at the Sutphin Blvd./Archer Ave./JFK subway stop, adjacent to Jamaica Airtrain Station): “E” Train (for western Queens, midtown Manhattan, and connections to the Bronx), and the “J” and “Z” trains (for central Queens and Northern Brooklyn)
  • NYC Buses: Q6, Q8, Q9, Q20, Q24, Q25, Q30, Q31, Q34, Q40, Q41, Q43, Q44, Q54, Q56, Q60 and Q65

Use Airtrain’s Howard Beach Station for the following transit connections:

  • NYC Subways: “A” train (for southern Queens, Brooklyn, and lower Manhattan)
  • NYC Buses: Q11

NYC subway service from Lower Manhattan or Brooklyn to JFK

Take MTA NYC Transit’s “A” train going to Far Rockaway. MTA fare is $2.75 (cash or MetroCard), except for $3.00 when a single-ride ticket is purchased. An additional MetroCard fare of $5 is required to enter the AirTrain system. Disembark from the subway at the Howard Beach/JFK Airport Station. Follow the signs to AirTrain and swipe your AirTrain MetroCard to enter the system. Travel time via subway and AirTrain is approximately 60–75 minutes from Lower Manhattan to JFK. Travel time from Howard Beach Station to JFK is approximately 15 minutes.

NYC subway service from Midtown Manhattan to JFK

Take MTA NYC Transit’s “E” train bound for Queens. MTA fare is $2.75 (cash or MetroCard), except for $3.00 when a single-ride ticket is purchased. An additional MetroCard fare of $5 is required to enter the AirTrain system. Disembark the train at the Sutphin Blvd/Archer Av/JFK station. Follow the signs to AirTrain and swipe your AirTrain MetroCard to enter the system. Travel time via subway and AirTrain is approximately 60–75 minutes from midtown Manhattan to JFK. AirTrain travels to JFK from Jamaica Station every 15 minutes and will take you to your airline terminal.

NYC Airporter

NYC Bus Service to and from JFK

Three NYC bus routes operated by the MTA provide direct service between the airport and nearby neighborhoods. These buses stop on the roadway adjacent to Terminal 5, and can be accessed via a free on-airport AirTrain trip to the Terminal 5/6 station. The bus fare is $2.75 (MetroCard or exact change required), except for $3.00 when a single-ride ticket is purchased. Q10 Bus: Local service to Queens. Connect to NYC subway train A at Lefferts Blvd. and E and F at Kew Gardens.

Q3 Bus: Local service to Queens. Connect at 169th St. and Hillside Ave. for NYC subway train F.

B15 Bus: Local service to East New York. Connect at New Lots and Livonia Aves for NYC subway trains 3 and 4.

Please note:  Free transfers between bus and subway and between subway and bus are available. Valid only with MetroCard. A $1 new card fee will apply to new MetroCard purchases from the vending machines. New card fee does not apply to MetroCard refills and MetroCards bought from authorized merchants. Other Airport Transit Options

Trans-Bridge Lines: Bus stop located in front of Terminal 4 on the arrivals roadway. Use AirTrain to connect with other airline terminals. For more information, call (800) 962-9135 or (610) 868-6001.

From Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)

About AirTrain

Passengers are required to use the AirTrain Newark system to connect to a NJ TRANSIT or Amtrak train. There is a $5.50 ticket fee.

Connections from New York City, Westchester, Upstate New York, Long Island, and Connecticut are often also possible through the Newark Liberty Airport Express

Public Bus Service

Express Bus Service

Newark Airport Express Bus

  • Newark Airport Express offers fast, easy, convenient express bus service between Newark Liberty International Airport and New York City.
  • Buses are only $16 one way or $28 round trip and arrive at each stop every 15 minutes during the day, 365 days a year (departures every 30 minutes before 6:45 AM and after 11:15 PM)!
  • When you board a Newark Airport Express Bus, you will get a relaxing, stress-free ride on a climate-controlled motor coach to or from Newark Liberty Airport.
  • On the trip to Newark Liberty Airport, customers may board a Newark Airport Express Coach at three nearby midtown Manhattan locations:

New York stops:

  • Grand Central Station (41st Street between Park and Lexington avenues)
  • Bryant Park (42nd Street and 5th Avenue)
  • Port Authority Bus Terminal (41st Street between 8th and 9th avenues)

At Newark Liberty Airport coaches may be boarded at:

  • Terminal A (Located on Level 1, outside at bus stop 5)
  • Terminal B (Located on Level 1, outside at bus stop 2)
  • Terminal C (Located on Level 1, outside at bus stop 5 & 6)

Trans-Bridge Lines:

  • Trans-Bridge Lines provides daily service westward to Pennsylvania.

From LaGuardia International Airport (LGA)

  • Travel northwest on LaGuardia Road. Make a slight right toward Grand Central Parkway then merge onto the parkway.
  • Travel 0.8 mile and take the exit onto the Brooklyn Queens Expressway East.
  • Travel 1.2 miles and merge onto Interstate 278 West.
  • Travel 2.2 miles to exit 35 for Interstate 495/Long Island Expressway toward Midtown Tunnel/Eastern Long Island/Greenpoint Avenue.
  • Travel 0.5 mile and merge onto partial toll road Interstate 495 West.
  • Travel 2.6 miles through the tunnel into Manhattan, keep left at the fork in the road and merge onto partial toll road Tunnel Exit Street.
  • Travel 0.2 mile and turn left onto East 34th Street.
  • Travel 1.0 mile to 8th Avenue and turn right.
  • Travel 0.6 miles to West 46th Avenue and turn right to the hotel.


From John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)

  • Travel 0.7 miles on the Van Wyck Expressway to Interstate 678 North.
  • Travel 7.4 miles to exit 12B for Interstate 495 West/Long Island Expressway toward the Midtown Tunnel.
  • Travel 7.6 miles on partial toll road Interstate 495 West and pass through the tunnel into Manhattan.
  • Keep left at the fork in the road and merge onto partial toll road Tunnel Exit Street.
  • Travel 0.2 mile and turn left onto East 34th Street.
  • Travel 1.0 mile to 8th Avenue and turn right.
  • Travel 0.6 miles to West 46th Avenue and turn right to the hotel.


From Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)

  • Travel 1.7 miles toward Interstate 78 West and take the ramp on the left for Interstate 78 East toward the New Jersey Turnpike/Interstate 95.
  • Travel 2.0 miles and take the ramp on the right for Interstate 95 North toward exits 15E-18E/Lincoln Tunnel.
  • Travel 1.3 miles and keep left onto Interstate 95 North/New Jersey Turnpike North.
  • Travel 6.4 miles to exit 16E and take the ramp on the right for Route 495 East toward the Lincoln Tunnel.
  • Travel 4.7 miles through the tunnel into Manhattan and take the ramp on the left for Dyer Avenue toward Uptown/Theater District/42nd Street.
  • Travel 0.1 mile to West 40th Street and turn right.
  • Travel 0.2 miles to 8th Avenue and turn left. Travel 0.3 mile to West 46th Street and turn right to the hotel.

Parking

  • On-site valet parking, fee: $90 USD per day for standard cars plus tax, overnight (subject to change)

When to Arrive / Depart

It is recommended to arrive in New York City, May 6th, 2020 (the day prior to the start of TECHSPO New York 2023) and depart on May 9th, 2020 (the day after the Conclusion of the Expo).
